Make your own whole grain cereal!!!

You can make your own muesli and save a lot of money. Best of all , you will know what was in your breakfast and not feel guilty about having consumed preservatives!

Here's how you do it:

Ingredients:
  • 2 cups of rolled oats
  • 1/4 cup of sunflower seeds
  • 1/4 cup of raisins
  • 1/2 cup of honey
  • 1/4 cup each of chopped dried figs, chopped soft dates and sliced almonds
Place a wok or deep pan on low heat. Add all the ingredients except honey to the pan and stir on low heat until oats get a slightly toasted appearance and smell ( about 15 mins). Do not raise the heat to speed up the process, because you will end up with burnt oats and almonds very quickly. Trust me on this one!
Now add the honey and stir for about 2 minutes until well mixed with the other ingredients. Turn off the heat. Cool and store in an airtight container, for upto 1 week. Make small quantities and enjoy fresh!

It takes only about 15 minutes of your time. You can add flavor by adding toasted coconut  or  more dry fruit like apricot/ prunes. Here's to a healthy start to the day.
